A grinder is the cheapest upgrade that changes every session. Even grind means an even burn, which means bowls that stay lit and joints that do not run down one side. Everything on this page is under $20 and made from metal rather than the plastic grinders whose teeth round off within weeks.

How many parts do you need?

  • Two-part — grinds and holds. Compact and the cheapest option, with no kief collection
  • Three-part — adds a chamber below the teeth, so ground herb drops through and stays even
  • Four-part — adds a screen and a kief catcher underneath, which is worth having once you use it regularly

What matters at this price

Check the teeth are cut rather than moulded, and that the magnet in the lid actually holds. Aluminium is standard and fine. The kief screen mesh matters more than the grinder body, since too coarse a screen lets ground herb through and too fine a screen collects almost nothing.

Common questions

Is a $15 grinder worth it over a $40 one?
For most people, yes. Premium grinders buy you better tolerances and a smoother action, but a solid metal four-part at this price does the actual job. Grinders fail from stripped teeth and weak magnets, and neither is guaranteed by price.

Do I need the kief catcher?
Not to grind. But it collects for free something you would otherwise lose, and it takes weeks of normal use to build up a usable amount.

How do I clean a grinder?
When it starts sticking, take it apart, brush out the teeth, and wipe with isopropyl. Freezing it first makes stuck resin brittle and much easier to remove.

Gem of a bowl! (clear)

I have had one of these bowls for over 15 years after I broke the original bowl that came with my HVY bong. I asked the guy at the smoke-shop near where my friend lived for the heaviest, most durable bowl he had (back then you couldn't even call them "bowls" and bongs were strictly called water-pipes). It survived many falls to the floor but last week when it fell it must have hit the metal table leg just right because it broke in two pieces. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to find a replacement but some internet searching lead me to SMOKE MEGA. While the JB KwikWeld was curing on my broken bowl, I ordered two new bowls from SMOKE MEGA, this time I got a blue one as well as a clear bowl to replace the one I broke.

Ordered them on a Friday afternoon, had a shipment confirmation with tracking number 73 minutes later, and they arrived on Tuesday! They were shipped in a sturdy box with excellent bubble wrap packaging, a small gift, and a nice hand written note asking to leave a review - so here I am!

Both Diamond Bowls look to be top quality, exactly like the pictures on the website, and best of all look exactly like the 15+ year old bowl I broke. I am very happy with my order and next time I need something from a smoke shop or head shop I will look to SMOKEMEGA.com first, especially since the closest shop is about a 90 minute drive away!
